What is Hygge? Hygge is a beautiful Danish concept of "a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being". Even in ordinary times, this is an amazing idea of simplicity and happiness, but with the restrictions due to COVID, this is truly a positive twist on our much more isolated lives. It's changing our thoughts from seeing the isolation as negative, into a positive by creating and enjoying the coziness and comforts of our homes and our lives. Let's embrace this unique time that has forced us to slow down and learn to practice Hygge. How do we do that? Concepts of coziness and comfort are very individual, but here are a few tips on practicing Hygge:

  • Blankets - lots of blankets
  • Pillows - lots of pillows too
  • Candles everywhere
  • Warm drinks
  • Homemade Soup
  • Warm socks
  • Soft lighting
  • Journaling
  • Lots of books to read
  • Simple pleasures
  • Classic movies
  • Baked goods
